Bauwien van der Meer, sopraan
Bauwien van der Meer studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, her first fase was concluded january 2004. After that she was a student of the New Opera-academy (Alexander Oliver manager). Her final exam was june 2005 with a Brecht/Weill pruduction. Singing Teacher: Sasja Hunnego.Masterclasses: februari 2005 with Ann Murray. Other masterclasses with Mark Tucker, Dame Malivna Major, Graham Clark, Cynthia Buchan and Jard van Nes.
Bauwien van der Meer sang titelrole Alcina Haendel in a DNOA production january 2005 and has done smaller roles at the DNOA productions: Pauline (La vie parisienne 2004). Lidunka (2 Vdovy, Smetana 2003); one of the 3 Knaben (Zauberfloete 2003); one of the Ingrate (Ballo delle Ingrate, Monteverdi 2003).
December 2004 she sang Bononcini's Polifemo: Circe/Venere concertante with the Utrecht Barok Consort; Jos van Veldhoven conductor. She was an understudy for Zerlina in a production of the USC in Utrecht (may-june 2004). In march 2006 she was understudy for the role of Jenny in Weill's Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny in a production of Opera a/h IJ. Recently she sang Königin der Nacht concertant and also in a staged school production, she will sing this role again september 2006 in Soest in an open air production. Next season (2006/07 and 07/08) Bauwien van der Meer will be part of the Nederlands Vocaal Laboratorium.
Bauwien van der Meer sings regularly as a soloist in oratoria by (mainly) Bach and Haendel but also contemporary music, Tehellim (Steve Reich); Goethe-lieder (Dallapiccola). She has a duo with Wendy Rijken (harp) and a duo with guitarist Annedee Jaeger. She has ample choir experience (Bachvereniging, GOK); also in staged opera productions. Bauwien van der Meer has a Masters degree in Architectural History (University of Utrecht).
